Embedding Microsoft Stream Videos in Blackboard

Instructional Design Center > Posts > Embedding Microsoft Stream Videos in Blackboard

Embedding is the process of using a HTML code snippet to place a  window (in this case, one that contains a video) directly on a web page or site rather than providing a link that will direct your audience to that external site.

Note: It is also a good idea to include such a direct link in the event of access issues.

  1. Make sure you have uploaded your video to your MS Stream Page.
  2. At the MS Stream landing page, click My Content > Videos
  3. Click the link of the video you would like to use:
  4. Just below the video window, click Share:
  5. In the pop-up window, click Embed and select the various options according to your preference:
    • Video Size– Rectangular dimensions of the video in pixels as it will appear in your course.
    • Autoplay – We suggest you leave this off.
    • Show info – Displays the video title and basic viewing/interaction statistics while paused
    • Start at – You may indicate a start time if different than the beginning of the video
  6. Click Copy. This will copy the code to your computer’s clipboard, or internal memory.
  7. Access your Blackboard course.
  8. Navigate to the course element in which you would like to embed the video. This could be any number of elements such as an item, folder description, exam question, and others. For the purposes of this tutorial, we will use a Blackboard item.
    • Hover over Build Content and then click Item.
    • Provide a name for your item under Name.
    • In the text entry field, you may enter any supporting content desired either before or after the embedding process.
    • Click the code button: <>
    • Paste the embed code you acquired from step 6 into the Source code window:
    • Click Save > Submit
    • Your video should appear embedded in the Blackboard Item:
