Instructional Design Philosophy

Being an instructional designer is largely the process of building trust. Trust between colleagues and departments can make or break the student experience just as a student losing trust in their instructor can lead to poor performance.  When content experts can collaborate with technology specialists, research enthusiasts and accessibility advocates… Students win. When courses are well organized, engaging and offer clear expectations… Students win.  It is the instructional designer’s task to fit these puzzle pieces together to build trust and community beyond the online classroom.
