PD3 - Course Development with Backward Design
Fall 2019 Course Dates - August 28 - September 11.
- Design and develop a lesson plan utilizing the Backward Design framework (Understanding by Design by Wiggins and McTighe)
- Use the Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT) framework when writing assessment instructions.
- Write measurable and observable learning objectives (you can test out of this topic)
Why should I take PD3?
PD3 - Course Planning and Development with Backward Design Framework is intended for faculty and staff who want to learn how to develop a pedagogically appropriate lesson plan for their face-to-face and online classroom. Knowing how to create lesson plans will significantly reduce the time you spend on planning and designing, and your students will appreciate the clarity and logical layout of your courses.
PD3 Course Structure
The course is 100% asynchronous with an option of one synchronous Zoom session. It starts on Wednesday and ends on Wednesday two weeks later. The main deliverable is a complete lesson plan with course goals, module goals, assessments written using TILT, and a list of learning activities.
