The Accelerated Path:

The accelerated path is available for students who:

  • Want to graduate in 12 months by taking two courses most terms
  • Meet EKU’s criteria for general education certification
  • Have completed a qualifying statistics course

The Traditional Path:

The traditional path is the best choice for most EKU Online RN-BSN students. It is designed for students who:

  • Want to focus on one course every 8 weeks, adding a second course occasionally to earn their BSN in about 18 months

Curriculum

With EKU, you are well on your way to your BSN. Just complete 25 credit hours to earn your degree! You will receive credit for additional courses based on your associate degree in nursing, NCLEX licensure and professional experience. If you have taken a qualifying statistics course, you will only take nursing courses. It’s possible to earn your BSN in as little as 12 months with the accelerated path.

Degree Requirements

A total of 25 nursing credits are required to graduate. A minimum of 120 credit hours, including transfer hours, is required to earn a bachelor’s degree.

  • NSC 383 (3 hrs) – Perspectives in Professional Nursing II
  • NSC 385 (4 hrs) – Perspectives in Professional Nursing III
  • NSC 390W (2 hrs) – Research for EBNP
  • NSC 440 (3 hrs) – Leadership and Management
  • NSC 442/C (5 hrs) – Complex Health Systems/Clinical
  • NSC 445 (2 hrs) – Professional Role Transition
  • NSC 486 (3 hrs) – RN Public Health Nursing

Admission Requirements

Please check the authorization status of your state.

  1. Associate degree in nursing from a program accredited by ACEN or NLN CNEA.
  2. An RN license from an approved state that is free and unrestricted, meaning that it has not been subject to reprimand, revocation, probation, suspension, restriction, limitation, disciplinary action, discretionary review/hearing or encumbrance nor had any type of complaint filed against it.
  3. Minimum grade equivalent of a 2.5 (C) or the previous nursing program’s passing grade in any nursing or support course to be transferred.

Application Process

Attention EKU Students: If you are currently enrolled as an EKU ASN student, complete Part II and Part III below and contact Misty Bailey to request a change of major.

If you previously completed coursework as an admitted student in the EKU RN-BSN program and are seeking readmission, contact Misty.Bailey@eku.edu for specific instructions.

Part II: Apply to the RN to BSN Program

Complete the EKU Department of Baccalaureate & Graduate Nursing Departmental Application.

Please note: Acceptance to the RN to BSN program is a two-step process.  You must be accepted to EKU and then accepted to the program.

Part III: Send required documents

  1. Visit your state board of nursing website for verification of your current nursing license and send it to:

  1. Request transcripts from any and all colleges or universities that you have attended. You can do this by contacting the schools directly or using the National Student Clearinghouse website. Transcripts sent to a student and then delivered to EKU will not be accepted. Each transcript must bear the original signature of the authorized official, along with the seal of the institution, and must be sent to EKU directly from the issuing institutionTranscripts are not required for courses taken at EKU.
