The Transcription Project is a collaborative effort between the Instructional Design Center (IDC), Web Accessibility (IT), and the Office of Services for Individuals with Disabilities (OSID). This program is in support of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as well as the Kentucky Accessible Information Technology (AIT) Act, KRS 61.980 - 61.988, enacted in 2000. Any audio or video accessible on an EKU web page or Blackboard site should be captioned or have a text version accessible in order to meet compliance.
Transcription is available for the following media types by priority of intended user.
- All audio and video media products used for classroom instruction where a student is registered with th Office of Services for Individuals with Disabilities (OSID). An example might be the creation of text files to meet accessibility needs.
- Media must be compatible with the program used by transcription, and these accepted file types are: WAV, MP3, MP4, and WMV. In addition, commercially produced DVD's and YouTube links can be transcribed if permitted by copyright. We also provide captioning for EKU-produced YouTube videos.
